Starting September 30, 2024, individuals interested in applying for the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program’s (AAIP) worker streams must submit a Worker Expression of Interest (EOI) to be considered for an invitation.
No Fee for Submission
Submitting a Worker EOI is free of charge.
Through the AAIP portal, candidates will provide self-declared information by completing the online Worker EOI form. Once submitted, EOIs will be evaluated and ranked based on the Worker EOI points grid. All qualified candidates will then enter the Worker Stream pool for potential selection.
Selection Process
The AAIP will regularly draw from the Worker Stream pool, targeting specific worker streams and pathways. Selection will be based on factors such as EOI scores, provincial labor market demands, the availability of AAIP nominations, and the current volume of applications. Candidates chosen from the pool will receive an invitation to apply via email.
No Immediate Rush
Although the system goes live on September 30, 2024, at 10 a.m., there’s no urgency to submit immediately. The first draws from the Worker Stream pool are expected in mid to late October 2024.
Steps to Prepare for EOI Submission
Here are a few things to do before submitting a Worker EOI:
- Check Eligibility: Ensure you meet the criteria for one or more of the AAIP worker streams.
- Review the Points Grid: Familiarize yourself with the Worker EOI points system to understand what information is needed and how points are assigned.
- Evaluate Existing Applications: If you already have AAIP applications or an Entrepreneur EOI, review them.
- You can only submit one Worker EOI at a time.
- If you already have a Worker or Entrepreneur EOI, or a draft or active AAIP application, these must be withdrawn before submitting a new Worker EOI.
- Create an Alberta.ca Account: You’ll need a valid Alberta.ca Account. You can use an existing basic or verified account to access the AAIP portal.
